Kyoto

Kyoto is a city in the Kansai region of Japan and served as the country's imperial capital from 794 to 1868. The city contains roughly 1,600 Buddhist temples and about 400 Shinto shrines, and 17 of its properties are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto.
