Nara

Nara is a city in Kansai, Japan, that served as the nation's capital, then called Heijo-kyo, from 710 to 794. The city and several surrounding religious sites are inscribed together on the UNESCO World Heritage List as "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara," registered in 1998.
